The Project “Building Capacity to Monitor Forest Vegetation and Carbon Change in the Upper Guinea Forest through Permanent Sample Plots” targeted a holistic capacity building among students and forestry staff of different institutions in the Mano River Union Landscape (Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire). Training, data collection, and monitoring were carried out in Outamba Kilimi-Madina Oula landscape that links Sierra Leone to Guinea, the Gola Forest landscape (Sierra Leone to Liberia), Ziama-Wonegizi-Wologizi landscape (Liberia to Guinea), the Tai-Grebo-Krahn-Sapo landscape and Cavally Nature Reserve (Cote d’Ivoire and Liberia). The project lifespan was twenty-six months (September 2022 – October 2024) and was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through Tetra Tech under a grant from the West Africa Biodiversity and Low Emission Development (WABiLED) under grant number: WABiLED-G-003-RAP-SL.
